Hej! Dziś zabieram Was w podróż do Aten. 

Hello! Today I'm taking you to trip to the capital of Greece - Athens. 

Na pierwszy rzut oka, miasto wydaje się być przeludnione. W aglomeracji Aten mieszka oficjalnie około 4 mln ludzi (oficjalnie, bo trzeba dodać też XX imigrantów, którzy nie są zarejestrowani). Wydaje się tu być bardzo ciasno, mur, beton, zieleni jest jak na lekarstwo... I tłumy turystów, wszędzie turyści chcący zobaczyć to wspaniałe architektoniczne dzieło europejskiej cywilizacji.

The city seems overcrowded. It reached the population about 4 mln citizens (even more, 'cause official number doesn't incude unregistered ones). There's not so many green areas, particularly no parks, no space at all... And a crowds of tourists everywhere, who want to see this great architectural work of European civilization.

Miasto z trzech stron otaczają góry, co w połączeniu z masową produkcją spalin latem sprzyja powstawaniu smogu. 

The city is surrounded by mountains, which combined with the mass production of fumes easily leads to formation of smog during the summer time.

Niech Was nie zmylą powyższe zdjęcia i nie myślcie, że wcale nie jest aż tak tłoczno. Zdjęcia te zostały wykonane o wczesnych godzinach porannych. Kiedy dotarłam na Akropol zaczęło się już robić tłoczno...

Don't think that it's actually not that crowded as I said, as you can see in the pictures above. They were just taken early morning and when I got to the Acropolis it was already crowded...

 Ta wspaniała budowla to Odeon Heroda Attyka. Wygląda jak amfiteatr, z tą różnicą, że często odbywały się tu też (ba, odbywają się do dziś) liczne koncerty i ze względu na akustykę ten obiekt był wcześniej zadaszony. Odeon otwarty jest dla turystów tylko w czasie koncertów i przedstawień, które trwają tu od czerwca do października.
 

In the picture above you can see The Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Nowadays the object is opened for turists only during the performances, which last from June till October.

Wchodzę na Akropol przez bramę (tzw. Propyleje), która oddziela świat ludzi od świata bogów. Nazwa Akropol znaczy tyle co "górne miasto", które posiada ruiny najwspanialszych budowli starożytnej Grecji: Partenonu, Erechtejonu i świątyni Nike Apteros. 

I'm coming in through the gates (the so-called. Propylaea), which separates the human world from the world of the gods. Name Acropolis literally means "upper town", which has the ruins of the finest buildings of ancient Greece: the Parthenon, the Erechtheum and the Temple of Nike Apteros.

 

Zabytki zabytkami, ale stojąc wśród tłumu z aparatem w dłoniach...takie są tego efekty:

W poszukiwaniu współczesnej Ateny...                                            In a search of modern Athena...

Akropol to doskonały punkt widokowy. Stąd rozpościera się widok na panoramę miasta.

 Acropolis is also a great vantage point.

Ktoś musi pracować, żeby zwiedzać mógł ktoś.

For some must watch, while some must sleep.

Wracamy do miasta... Jedna porada! Jak już będziecie wspinać się na Akropol, bądź z niego schodzić, idźcie bardzo ostrożnie, bo kamienne płyty prowadzące na wzgórze są wygładzone i bardzo śliskie, co chwilę ktoś się na nich przewracał...

Enough, enough... We're coming down... One tip! While climbing up to the Acropolis, go very carefully, because the stone steps are smooth and very slippery every now and then someone was falling down...

Najlepszą pamiątką jaką możecie sobie przywieźć z Grecji jest moim zdaniem oliwa z oliwek. Grecka oliwa jest bardzo delikatna w smaku na tyle, że nie skrzywicie się po tym jak wypijecie łyżkę czystej oliwy dla zdrowotności. 

The best souvenir from Greece is in my opinion olive oil. Greek olive oil is very delicate in flavor, so you can easily drink a tablespoon of pure olive.

To uczucie, gdy para młoda czeka na zdjęcia, a fotograf robi zdjęcia leżącemu na murze kotu ,-) 

 This moment, when the photographer is taking picture of the cat, while young couple is waiting for their lovely photo session.

W Atenach byłam na początku lipca - nie polecam tej pory na zwiedzanie. No chyba, że ktoś jest entuzjastą tłumów i temperatury dochodzącej do 40 C. Najlepszy okres na odwiedziny Grecji to moim zdaniem wiosna lub jesień.

I was in Athens at the beginning of July and I don't recommend you this period to come here. Well, or maybe it's good for you if you're an enthusiast of crowds and high temperatures of up to 40 degrees. The best time to visit Greece is in my opinion is spring or autumn.

Warto zobaczyć też zmianę ateńskiej warty. Urzekły mnie stroje wartowników.

I recommend you see the changing of the guard ceremony outside the Greek Parliament building in Athens.

Podsumowując, Ateny to miejsce, gdzie warto przyjechać i zobaczyć na własne oczy wszystkie zabytki, które kiedyś widziało się tylko w podręcznikach do historii.

To sum up, Athens is worth to come and see all the monuments, which history teachers were torturing us in elementary school.
