Koszyce - miasto położone nad rzeką Hornad we wschodniej części Słowacji w kraju koszyckim. Kosice is a city located on the Hornad river in the eastern part of Slovakia in the Kosice Region. Very attractive place with wonderful old town and rich cultural life, formerly a candidate for the capital of the country. An important industrial, cultural and scientific center is considered to be the most beautiful city in Slovakia.

Główną ulicą koszyckiej starówki jest ulica Hlawna. To w jej obrębie skupia się większość najważniejszych zabytków. Zobaczymy tu także ciekawe kamienice, eleganckie sklepy, kawiarnie i restauracje.

The main street of the Old Town is Hlavna Street. Here we can see the most of the main monuments. We will also see interesting tenements, elegant shops, cafes and restaurants.

1. The symbol of the city is the Gothic Cathedral of St Elizabeth. Temple with a towering iron turret and the second with metal cupola with gold ornaments. The elevation enraptures with decorative elements in the form of bas-reliefs. In inside is the Gothic main altar of St. Elisabeth and side altars.

2. Na północ od katedry rozciąga się Hlavne namestie - plac z gmachem teatru. Między katedrą, a teatrem znajduje się skwer z drzewami i ławeczkami, pośrodku którego tryska słynna grająca fontanna. Po drugiej stronie teatru jest jeszcze jeden skwer z fontanną ozdobioną znakami zodiaku.

2. North of the cathedral is the Hlavne namestie - square with the theater building. Between the cathedral and the theater there is a square with trees and benches, in the middle of which the famous fountain plays. On the other side of the theater is another square with a fountain decorated with signs of the zodiac.

Spacerując przez historyczne centrum uwagę przyciąga piękny pałac stojący na rogu ulic Mlynskiej i Stefanikovej. Ten neogotycki budynek został wybudowany w 1899 r przez  Petera Jakuba.

Strolling through the historical center your attention attracts a beautiful palace standing on the corner of Mlynska and Stefanikova streets. This neo-gothic building was built in 1899 by Peter James. 

Pozostałe atrakcje warte zobaczenia

Warto udać się do Pałacu Rakoczego,  który dawniej mieścił koszycką mennicę,  był siedzibą księcia Rakoczego, a dziś w odrestaurowanych wnętrzach urządzono Slovenske technicke muzeum. Ekspozycje dotyczą górnictwa, kowalstwa, hutnictwa, chemii, fizyki i kartografii. Warto też odwiedzić Muzeum Wschodniosłowackie z eksponatami z dziedziny sztuki, rzemiosła, etnografii, przyrody i fotografii. W Koszycach znajduje się także Skansen Archeologiczny, gdzie możemy zejść pod ziemię i zobaczyć pozostałości dawnych murów obronnych.

It is worth visiting the Rakoczi Palace, which formerly situated the mansion, was the seat of Prince Rakoczi, and today, in the renovated interiors is a Slovak Technical Museum. Exhibitions concern mining, smithery, metallurgy, chemistry, physics and cartography. You can also visit the East Slovak Museum with exhibits in the fields of art, crafts, ethnography, nature and photography. In Košice there is also an Archaeological Heritage Museum, where we can go underground and see ruins of the old defensive walls.
